Sammy Miller Honda
“When I signed up for Honda to develop a Trials bike and to promote their brand, the very first job on my agenda was to visit the works in Japan and to check out their competition department. For me it was quite a culture shock in comparison to Bultaco and Ariel. I decided the best option for me was to get back to New Milton and get on with the job. The Highboy frame was not a problem as we were making them for Bultaco. The new frame and the 250cc engine were bored out to 305cc and two inches cut off the bottom of the sump and a plate welded to it. Softer cams and small bore carburettor along with many long arduous hours produced a competitive bike. Honda had the engine back and made three engines, this is number 1, It’s still a handy bike and a good looker” – Sammy Miller
