Toni Bou, World Champion for fourth year running.

Foppolo (Italy). 25.07.2010. - On Sunday Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) won his fourth Trial World Championship title, all consecutive after a new victory (the seventh in the present season) in the tenth and penultimate scoring event. The Montesa rider only needed to finish fifth to be mathematically declared winner of this 36th edition of the world championship, with the last event still to go, which is the Czech Grand Prix, taking place on September 5th. Bou refused to adopt a conservative approach and won in champion's style, achieving the best score on both laps of the trial.

Toni Bou, born in Piera (Barcelona) on October 17th 1986, has been competing as a Montesa - Honda rider since 2007, the first season of his world supremacy. To his four World Champion titles, we can add another four (also consecutive) in the Indoor trial category.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) accompanied his teammate on the podium. With his third place, the Japanese rider has dropped one position in the general world championship classification, but his options are still open to obtain the sub-championship title.

Francesc Moret (Montesa) finished third in the Junior category, in which Alfredo Gómez (Montesa) lost his leadership in the general classification, by finishing fifth. Laia Sanz (Montesa Cota 4RT) was just below the scoring zone.

Toni Bou: "My intention was to win the championship by winning this event and I'm delighted to have done it. The season's been complicated due to changes in the regulations that made us work hard. Looking back, I think that the first title I achieved in 2007 was brilliant and it was also the point from which I gradually gained experience, learning new work methods and how to handle different situations. This fourth title was very important for me, as in the history of the

championship it has only been beaten by Jordi Tarrés and Dougie Lampkin. But I don't want to get obsessed with their seven titles, because this would stop me from enjoying each and every one of the great moments I'm living at the moment".

Takahisa Fujinami: "Firstly, I'd like to congratulate Toni. Once again, he's been impeccable, while I've been affected by the pressure to obtain the sub-championship. I made too many mistakes in the first lap and lost my second position in the general classification. But the difference is minimal and I think the sub-championship's not lost yet, not at all. I'll just have to finish in front of my rival in the next event".
