British Championship Rd 5 (Neath Motor Club)

James Dabill debuting the new 300cc “Raga Replica” Gas Gas continues to dominate this years ACU/TRC British trials championship when he took the win at the St David’s trial held at the excellent Ysguthan Farm venue near Ammanford in South Wales.

Dabill was leading after the first lap but it was MRS Sherco rider Michael Brown who took the initiative on the second lap when he sneaked in front of him by a single mark with Beta mounted Alexz Wigg looking good in third place. The final tour of the twelve sections would see Brown drop to third with a suspected electrical problem as “Wiggy” suddenly found him-self in a close second at the close of play.

In a close fight in the A class it was current leader Gary Macdonald who kept his cool to give Gas Gas importer John Shirt Jnr a one-two for the new “Raga” machine by taking the win. Hot on his heels though were the MRS Sherco pairing of Andy Chilton and James Fry.

The B class gave us a new winner in Josh Woods whose two opening laps of a single mark on each and a clean last lap gave him the win from current series leader Darren Brice and Sheffield’s Dan Farrer.

The trial was credit to the club members who put in a tremendous amount of effort to give this years championship a new venue which all agreed was a first class event.

Talking to Trial Magazine after the event James Dabill had this to say,” The trial has been good today and I have come away with another win which I am very pleased about, I would like to thank the club for an excellent event. I have not ridden at my 100% best today and there is still room for improvement though the new machine is awesome. I must now put my World championship head for this week-ends event round in Fort William. I will need all the crowd support I can get so if you are in doubt about whether to go or not get your-self’s up there as this will give me a massive boost” he concluded.
