Telford – This Week End

A very rare Ossa as used by Mick Andrews and his UK team mate Ted Breffitt when Ossa ,s first came to the UK  is just one of many interesting  bikes on display at the Telford classic Off Road  show this coming Saturday and Sunday 13/14th February. Named the “Pennine” and brought out in 1968 the all green machine was developed with the help of Mick, who was the Barcelona factories first foreign rider. Unfortunately   it was not a patch on the later all conquering MAR which sold in big numbers from 1970 and on which Mick would become European champion. That said importer Eric Houseley from Clay Cross, Derbyshire assembled a powerful team with Dave Thorpe and Chris Milner as well as Mick taking many wins in 1968. Alongside the Ossa is a Montesa display which amongst includes two early pristine examples of kids trials bikes –the 25cc and 50cc Cotas plus a rare “330”. Fantic specialists Bill Pye and Bob Wright bring examples of tricked up twin shockers whilst a display of Italian twin shocks includes Aprilia, Moto Gori, Beta and Garelli. Martin Matthews has a trade stand full of SWM exotica, Steve Sell a specialist stand for Ossa whilst Dave Renhams “In Motion” can supply virtually everything for Bultaco. Sammy Miller products have all sorts of trials goodies on view whilst Sam the Man himself will not only be on the stand but brings a beautiful example of the 1965 4 speed “Radial Head” Sherpa that he developed. Yamaha riders will be well catered for by Trial and Trail while Craig Mawlam specialises in the Majesty variety and has a few surprises on a major stand .Suspension sellers are Rockshocks, Betor and NJB. Club displays are by Greeves, Cotton and DOT.  Finally if you need riding gear there will be plenty of Boots and Helmets with discounted clothing from Hebo and Jitsie.

Venue is the International Centre, Telford, 1 mile from junction 4 of the M54 motorway - and just 16 miles off the M6, 8 miles north of Birmingham. Show opening is 10.am each day. Entry is £9.
