Laia Sanz regains the continental title for the eighth consecutive time. Tanval (Czech Republic), 25.07.2009. - Laia Sanz (Montesa Cota 4RT) has again become the Women’s European Trial Champion for the eighth consecutive time after winning this Saturday the third and final scoring event. The Montesa rider finished unbeaten in this year of the championship with a significant advantage over her closest rivals. Laia who only needed a third position in this event to obtain the title completely dominated the two laps on a course that had been made difficult by the rain. Laia Sanz: “I’ve achieved my main objective for the season and what’s left is to regain the world title. I’m very satisfied by this eighth championship, winning doesn’t tire you, nor is it a routine, for me it’s like a constant motivation. In addition, today I really enjoyed myself because the sections that seemed easy yesterday have changed completely with the rain. Under these conditions winning has even more merit”. The eight-time continental champion was born in December 11th 1985 in Corbera de Llobregat (Barcelona) and she has been in the Repsol Montesa Honda team since 2004. Laia Sanz’s next objective is to win what could be her ninth world championship title which will be decided in the events held on September 12th and 18th in Isola 2000 (France) and Darfo Boario (Italy), respectively. Sanz has already won the first event in Andorra.
