Leicestershire business man Maurice Hutson was the special guest at the Eboracum Motor Club’s national Ladies and Girls Trials Championship at Hovingham Quarry on Sunday afternoon. Mr Hutson who is 75 travelled from Leicester to present the awards after the trial. Although he owns Hovingham Quarry he has never watched or even seen a motor cycle trial up until Sunday afternoon. Despite experiencing severe traffic delays and arriving later than planned Mr Hutson delivered an off - the - cuff welcome speech to the assembled competitors, parents, minders and trials officials voicing his thoughts on motorcycle sport and the talents of the ladies and girls riding at Hovingham on Sunday. He presented all the awards. On the plus side every recipient thanked Mr Hutson, all with a smile on their faces. That attitude was noticed by all, a credit to the girls on the day. Others could learn a lot from them.
