Winning Weekend for MRS Sherco Team
It was a successful weekend for the MRS Sherco team at round four of the ACU Events British Trials Championship at Morlais Quarry, near Merthyr Tydfil. Michael Brown who joined the MRS Sherco team at the beginning of 2009 gained his first British Championship win for the Sherco team in front of rivals Alexz Wigg and James Dabill. Brown rode extremely well and only dropped a total of 17 marks and only dropping a mere two marks on the third and final lap. He thought his chances of winning the trial were over after he knocked his bike up a gear on section seven on the first lap and ended up stalling the bike and took the maximum of five marks. Fortunately from then on he rode brilliantly throughout the rest of the day to take the win. Over the last few weeks Michael has been working hard on his fitness levels and his result last Sunday have proved that this is paying dividends with his decreasing lap scores of 10, 5 and 2. In the Expert A class James Fry took a fantastic third place with Jonathan Richardson in fourth behind Sam Connor and Ben Morphett. Jonathan Richardson and Gary Macdonald tied for fourth place with Richardson gaining the advantage on most cleans, which meant the MRS Sherco had three of the top five riders in the Expert A class. Meanwhile, in the British Ladies Championship Sherco mounted Becky Cook lead the way dominating the opposition winning the ladies round at Scarborough on Saturday by 30 marks followed by another British Ladies Championship trial run by the Eboracum Club on Sunday, where she took her second win of the weekend. She now has an extensive lead in the Championship standings, after winning every round so far.
Jonathan and Michael are now heading to the World Championship round in Japan; they are flying to Zurich and meeting with fellow Sherco factory rider Albert Cabestany before flying to Japan for the trial this weekend.
MRS and Sherco would like to congratulate all their riders on a successful weekend.
