3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

Finally joined a forum again...

So then, 3 new bikes launched in the last week. The Sherco, Ossa and revamped Scorpa.

From the images seen so far i like 2 of them and not keen on the 3rd!!

I like the Ossa... the design is different and the styling looks good, they could teach Greeves a thing or two about getting a bike to look good for a show!! As it is a prototype we have no idea what is going to make it into production but the innovations shown are exciting.

I like the new scorpa colour scheme... makes the bike look so more modern, even better with the sherco engine fitted that is about half the size of the yamaha engine used previous.

The sherco...hmm, it looks rear heavy now and has a camel hump in the old tank area. Not sure how long the fuel cap will last once slide down a tree or rock, and either side will look a bit naff once dented and scuffed. I presume it either has some cavity inside or a pump pipe all the way to the top or you won't want to be back hopping for long!! I was just expecting something better myself... but each to their own.

whats your thoughts?

more info, the ossa set-up sounds good and having Colomer involved is a good thing i would say.
I do know that the rear ohlins shock is several thousand pounds to buy though!!! what price the complete bike i wonder... 8 grand?

What's so special about this particular Ohlins except it has a piggy-back reservoir?  Are you thinking that Ossa is using a variable damper instead of a linkage?  Would be good to have a view from underneath methinks.

WOW heath!!! you have two fans!! The Ossa story is fantastic news who would have believed it? Who will import it is any bodies guess? Who would take the gamble in the present economic climate, maybe Sandifords?

Hiya...

I think the ossa may come over via a small dealer or individual who has trials contacts already... just a guess.

Just to show how much i liked ossa's when i was a kid... here is my back garden when i was about 14..

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

Back to the subject... amazing how the smaller sherco engine suddenly makes the scorpa look modern, and i have always liked black/orange/white together as well.

... any news whether nigel birkett is still the scorpa man, would he want to be playing with sherco engines?

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

Heath......ow do...?? 3 bikes just like that, strange but true. I have to admit I find the Sherco and its tank a bit of a gimmick, the obvious question being 'how do you fill it up from a jerry can?  Looks like it has to be laid down on its side....plus it right there next to the muckiest part of a bike.....the back wheel.....!

Heath, hows business with the website? i always have a nosy about once per week, I am generally trying to locate obscure parts and when that fails, see whos do what in makin' em yer sen!!  Fantic should be ready in time for Xmas and on the road 2010........maybe.

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

Hiya all... hmm i am not keen on several things about the sherco myself but until i see it in the flesh i guess i will have to go by the pictures.
The one thing i can't figure out is how they have taken the biggest item on the bike, the fuel tank, moved it but managed to fill the space left with something bigger!! Looks like a camel now!
.. also agree on the fuel filler location and having to lay it down in the mud to fill unless you have a bendy nozzle. Don't think that plastic filler cap will last too many slides down trees or rocks either. Also not sure how nice it will look when the alloy tank and silencer have picked up a few dents... Time will tell.

I forgot about Sandifords not having a brand anymore in the trials world...

Just hope the sherco lump is as reliable as the old yam one.

I phoned birketts the other day to ask about my exhaust and the lady on the phone said nigel wasn't there to ask as he was at the milan show.  I guess he will still be the scorpa guru.

Heath how is dangerous dave burners getting on.???

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

... still as dangerous mate!! Although i haven't ridden for nearly 3 months as i sold my beta back then to start saving for a new evo, so i haven't seen much of him. Had a call from him recently to see when we are all getting back out to ride. He has been riding enduros a lot this year... and hits things harder in that i am told big_smile

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

All coming out of the woodwork!!
Nice to see you all again, and any new people.
Thursday will be the first view for many of us of the sherco.. nice to have at least one new bike to crawl around. Not spoken to BVM's this week to find out if the new scorpa's are going to be around.

Re: 3 new ones in a week.... what do we think.

Hi Guys - Christmas Greetings from the land of the great snows, - Unfortunately the new Sherco will be late getting over this side of the pond, and it looks unlikely that I will have one for my stand at the Red Deer Motorcycle Show in January. (Bummer) - Good news is that the 2010 Evos are in, and this is a good seller for me.
